Resultant land cover/land use and overlay maps generated in ArcGIS 10 indicated a significant shift from Vegetation and Water cover to Agriculture, Bare soil/rock and Settlements cover, which shrank by 38.2% and 74.3% respectively. > My Account | Land use change mapping and analysis using Remote Sensing and GIS: A case study of Simly watershed, Islamabad, Pakistan 1. Change-vector analysis (CVA) is a valuable technique for land-use/land-cover change detection. Land use/land cover (LU/LC) changes were determined in an urban area, Tirupati, from 1976 to 2003 by using Geographical Information Systems (GISs) and remote sensing technology. However, how to reasonably determine thresholds of change magnitude and change direction is a bottleneck to its proper application. Land Use Change Analysis is important to overcome the problem of biogeochemical cycles, loss of productive ecosystems, biodiversity, deterioration of environmental quality, loss of agricultural lands, destruction of wetlands, and loss of wildlife habitat. Web Book of Regional Science. Edited by Scott Loveridge, 2000: Randall Jackson, 2019. Web Book of Regional Science. The watershed was classified into five major land cover/use classes viz. Diversity and Inclusion Statement, Privacy > Evaluation of watersheds and development of a management strategy require accurate measurement of the past and present land cover/land use parameters as changes observed in these parameters determine the hydrological and ecological processes taking place in a watershed. These studies were employed by using the Survey of India topographic map 57 O/6 and the remote sensing data of LISS III and PAN of IRS ID of 2003. |

This study applied supervised classification-maximum likelihood algorithm in ERDAS imagine to detect land cover/land use changes observed in Simly watershed, Pakistan using multispectral satellite data obtained from Landsat 5 and SPOT 5 for the years 1992 and 2012 respectively. Change-vector analysis (CVA) is a valuable technique for land-use/land-cover change detection. Land Use Change Analysis is part of RSPO Remediation and Compensation Procedures (RaCP). LCLUC, Millennium Ecosystem Assessment) with regard land use and land cover changes, described land cover as the biophysical status of the surface of the soil and of the underlying subsoil and comprises biota, soil, topography, surface- and ground waters, as well as built-up structures Previous Versions: GTAP Model and Supporting Documentation. carried out the predictive analysis of land use changes in Ganzhou District based on CA-Markov model. Land use changes are often nonlinear and might trigger feedbacks to the system, stress living conditions, and threaten people with vulnerability . Peng Gong, Univeristy of California In this paper, a new method is proposed to improve CVA. Accessibility Statement. Edited by Scott Loveridge, 2000: Randall Jackson, 2019. Land use change is a process by which human activities transform the natural landscape, referring to how land has been used, usually emphasizing the functional role of land for economic activities. | 3. These land cover/use transformations posed a serious threat to watershed resources. When the improved CVA was applied to the detection of the land-use/land-cover changes in the Haidian District, Beijing, China, Kappa coefficients of “change/no-change” detection and “from-to” types of change detection were 0.87 and greater than 0.7, respectively, for all kinds of land-use changes.
