Tbh I think the complaints about DLC being done when base SWSH itself feeling empty and somewhat incomplete are valid. Pokemon Sword and Shield are definitely complete games. Mice are the cutest animals out there - as if their Pokemon versions, Pichu and Pikachu didn't prove that already. Note Signal Beam is not in SwSh. at least to me.
It looks like most legendaries will return at least (and I bet mythicals will join them too).

Maybe everything having access to base 102 power moves with no real drawbacks was deemed a bit too much for in-game play?
Sword and Shield had so much potential, mainly for technology reasons.

however, pokemon was never really known for its story and usually tries to keep it nice and simple. I won't deny that megas helped a lot of pokemon, but it also caused problems for almost all PvP formats. Best Pokemon and Smash Bros. character. Outside of Pokemon obviously, I wonder if these expansions will affect the original region in some way, like story and characters. What I generally see in doubles is something like this. I don't wholly mind Hidden Power being gone either, but I do wish certain Pokemon who relied on Hidden Power to flesh out their otherwise appalling movepools would get some new toys to make up for it (see most Electric types as examples). Ultra Sun: Kangaskhan protects its child by keeping it in its pouch.
Megas on the other hand, is arguably more OP than Dynamax (yes, I know, Dynamax is banned in one popular format). The only design of a town that I really liked was Ballonlea but the town itself was so small and empty.
