At the top of the hill, you’ll see the gravel road on your left (usually blocked with a chain and labeled “No Trespassing.”). Go past the golf course and turn right when you reach Dixie Drive. When you reach Hope Street, turn right, then immediately take the left fork and climb Skyline Drive to the top of the cliffs. For this ride it should almost take 2 hours. Take the Washington exit from I-15 (about 10 miles north of St. George). You can put your trust in the staff at Bicycles Unlimited to properly service your bicycle. After crossing the road, the broad Rusty Cliffs trail should be easy to follow. One block later, turn left and drive out of town. From the south, take the Hurricane exit on US-9 and go through Hurricane towards Zion National Park. We will also use a degreaser and apply lubricants.

It is an excellent ride for your first time on slick rock. This will give you 90% of the fun with 10% of the risk for injury.

Park there. The ride lies about 6 miles northeast of St. George and is a 6.4 mile loop. Go across the cattle guard. But if you head left, up the broad set of step-like rocky ledges, you’ll find a fun alternate route.
This is another trail that will be scaled in the middle of the 1-10 spectrum.

If you are sure of your ability to clip out quickly, be assured that you will be doing it frequently the first time around the 11.1 mile loop. 0.5 miles later, you’ll cross over the Virgin River. They can direct you to a trail that fits your level of biking experience and give you detailed directions on how to find these cruise-tastic trails you don’t want to miss out on. There is 3 miles of the single track and 3.4 miles of packed dirt.
